On a couple other lists I frequent, it's considered polite to post a
bio, before contributing. I've violated that - but plead end of the
semester crazies. Herewith find mine :^)

Personal: Steve Noe, married over 25 years, 2 daughters, one entering
college next year. Currently teaching human anatomy and physiology to
allied-health wannabes at Ivy Tech State College in Indianapolis. I've
run general merchandise stores (anyone old enough to remember WT
Grant?), done research in diagnostic imaging, and done FDA compliance
for medical device and bulk pharmaceutical firms.

Other hobbies: historical re-enactor of the French & Indian War;
Compagnie franche de Muy, de la Marine, du Detroit. Member of the
MidWest Tool Collector's Association, and Neandertal WoodDorker.
Just Say(tm from another list), all my saws and planes are Y1K compliant.

Traveller background: Did my graduate work at Illinois State University
in mid-late 1970's, when GDW was upstairs, over the Just-Rite ice-cream
shop. I didn't participate in any play-testing, as pleasing Prof's
Mockford, Weber, and Liberta was really important, but I still have
intact copies of Raphia and of Triplanetary. %^)

Played and refereed Traveller, and some En Garde, with the CSGCI from
1980, 'til about 1990. A gaming buddy tripped across my office, a few
months ago, and hooked me into the list.

I don't have the time (see other hobbies, above) to game face-to-face,
but would like to get into a PBEM game, emphasizing CT. I always liked
Traveller, 'cause the object of the game was _to have an adventure_, not
gain points, or total up body counts. Ask Ken Roney about one Munchkin
[aka The Incorrigible Bulk] who insisted on wearing (legal) CmbtAr while
passenger inboard a free trader - the AntiHijack kept locking him in his
stateroom, and it always took most of the ship's day to calm things
down. ;^>
Even with slugs a shotgun, IMO, would be a poor choice for defense
against Polar Bear. A .338 magnum would be more like it (more range,
more energy, more penetration). IIRC Browning BLRs come in .338
Winchester Magnum for those who think a bolt action too slow.
Sterile "mules" are more likely, but if the drift has been large
*that*, you won't get fertilization.
You aren't thinking on the right timescale. Recessive *do* get lost
Sorry, but if the Pacific Northwest is going to split from the US, part
of the reason will be to get *away* from California! At an absolute
*minimum* southern CA has to be excluded.
Some of Dr. Robert Forward's books:

"Rocheworld"
"Return to Rocheworld"
"Ocean under the Ice"
"Marooned on Eden"
"Rescued from Paradise"
They detail the exploration of a hypothetical planetary system around
Barnard's Star.
Ohm, hertz that you watt to drop the current discussion, amp watt grounds
could you positively have? Don't be so negative!

But you canuk for yourself, this is moore interesting than the alternating
rifling through Somme of those posts I thought "Pistol of them!"
If you think this is the Maxwell you haven't seen nothing yet! To
Set up a Traveller only con for next May or June! How about
Memorial Day weekend, May 26 to 29? Seventy two hours of non-stop
Traveller games.
Keven, I need to update your entry in the TML Roster I'm keeping on my
website. <g>

Just to remind everyone, and let those who are new here, I have a list of
over 100 "Fellow Travellers", with location information on my site. I'm
always looking to add more.

Go to http://www.crosswinds.net/~erisr/ and take the link to either the
comma delimited or text rosters.

And if someone isn't doing it already, I'd be happy to host a list of
active Internet games, PBEM/ICQ/IRC/etc. If someone *is* keeping such a
list, tell me where you are and, with your permission, I'll link to you.
Well, we have two follow ups, but there's no current plan to release
those. They're called:

a) 'Star Worn' which kind of follows the adventures of some
characters which bear a faint resemblance to something from George
Lucas' twisted imagination.

b) Starship Marines in Battledress - the bugs are bombing Sylea with
significantly less than C-Rocks, the Men in Tux-Dress aren't sure
what's happening, and what are the dear old Famille Spofulam up to?

I can't influence releasing these but I'm sure someone at BITS could.

<snigger> The killer in the six table tournament was when we
systematically took the same three players out of each game and moved
them to a different table to simulate a time and dimensional slip....
:-)

Fun fun fun for everyone!
Dom

PS I must stress that this is only up for a short time for legal
wegal reasons because, well, you'll understand why when you read it.
We can't sell it :-/ I suspect that when the year strikes "00" it'll
turn into a pumpkin and disappear.
